dent of internal af fairs said the action of onyemefn could be too late mattison had previously called an interest meeting of all those concerned about the absence onyemem said he put off overriding the system until he was sure that conventional channels would not work he added that by march 15th the student constitution would have been completely reviewed and revised so that another such situation will not arise i feel very strongly that we must have a senate said onyemem last semester i didn't see a need to override the election process the program is sponsored through the greensboro con expressions of the black experience is the theme of this years black history month celebration said clapp we have gone to the different departments and feb 7th folk singer paula lark will perform in the auditorium of the library the profits will be donated to a student loan program see sga meeting page 3 building plans looking good committee william a streat jr chair man architectural engineer ing department was appointed chairman of the building mechanical and space has also been provided for two new departments/c/v/y and chemical engineering the new structure other spaces included in the new building are initial laboratories for chemical engineering and essential laboratory spaces for civil engineering are also pro vided in the new structure space for solar energy ex perimentation has been pro vided on the roof the new building has been planned to house the offices of the school of engineering dean administrative and faculty offices for the four ex isting engineering depart ments architectural elec trical industrial and expanded engineering pro grams all industrial engineer ing facilities are temporarily housed in dudley building which is in the north section of the south campus some space for engineering use has been provided in gibbs hall which is located just east of the con struction site for the new building see engineering page 3 the new building will be located in an area between market street and the south side of existing cherry and graham buildings the new as of this date the delivery process for the building has progressed through the design development stage after some modifications to include a microelectronics fabrication laboratory which required the reduction of office spaces from the initial plans the school of engineering building has a total budget of approximately 8.5 million and a space allotmet of 94,400 sq ft in the spring of 1982 the firm of w.e jenkins a.i.a was selected as architect and the firm of j hyatt ham mond and associates was selected as consulting ar chitects engineers and plan ners the selections were made by the university board of trustees to work with the ar chitects chancellor fort ap pointed a building committee composed of university per sonnel with various ad ministrative experiences and academic backgrounds as a result of increased engineering enrollments and the building design ap proach coordinates the ex isting laboratory spaces of cherry and graham buildings with additional laboratory classroom and office spaces of the new structure at pre sent administrative offices of all engineering departments except on are located in cherry and graham buildings structure will be attached to cherry hall with a covered walkway and will provide an engineering educational com plex of three permanent buildings complete awareness for complete commitment 9 thiÂ£5 register volume lv number 19 north carolina agricultural * technical state university greensboro nc tuesday january 24 1984 onyemem says senate c will convene soon
