of powerful in attendance for this event were chancellor james c renick sga president calvin f william jr bennett college sga president rachel silver and 14th president of bennett college dr johnnetta b cole the recipients of dr alma s adams community service award were dr lucille piggott and dr nelloise divers watkins both retired educators councilwoman and a mem ber of the north carolina house of representatives the community service award is named in honor of dr alma s adams adams is an alumnus of north carolina a&t state university a former greensboro city business the recipient of the dr velma speight-buford distinguished faculty award was dr gwendolyn highsmith-quick a profes sor in the school of speight-buford is an alum nus of north carolina a&t state university a retired educator and a member of the board of trustees johnson and michael fairfax megan brooks with 724 votes became the new vice president of external affairs she defeated blake e speaker of the student senate and in charge of for warding all legislative acts to the president absence she will be the moody will assist the president and perform his duties in the event of his the position of vice presi dent of internal affairs was won by arnita moody with 1192 votes 360 votes were tallied for kirk monroe versify committee in which he is appointed the distinguished faculty award is named in honor of dr velma speight-buford the recipients of the sandra williamson woman of excellence award were political science major victoria cejas and account ing major akilah c thompson the graduating senior award is named in honor of sandrea williamson williamson has been a pro fessional educator for 35 years as well as assistant director of the university honors program and a member of the guilford battleground company board of directors the class of 2006 awarded an a&t graduating senior distinguished faculty mem ber and servant of the com munity for their outstanding leadership and hard work each award given out that evening not only recognized the recipients but also the powerful woman in which the award was named hoggard was the chairper son for the event women s raschaad university but throughout all communities this pro gram was created to cele brate and honor the many achievements of black carolina a&t state women a program giving honor to african-american women not only from north annual tribute to black on march 24 the class of 2006 presented the 2nd directors and any other uni member of the board of body outside of a&t's campus ramey will serve as the representative for the university he will be a student senate appoint the parliamentarian and make several state-of-the-campus addresses to the student committee he will devel op a budget attend to the as president and chairper son of the executive branch ramey will head the execu tive board and committees except the election votes chance lynch came in a close second with a total of 608 votes cory adams finished with 271 votes justin ramey the new sga president won by 127 in the end the student government association executive board came away with strong wins over 1500 students trav eled to the exhibit hall of the memorial student union to vote for the 2005 spring elections on march 23 despite the cloudy and wet weather candidates stood their ground to convince voters to mark their ballot in favor for rasheed has lamb's sup port he thinks that she was the right person for the miss a&t position i feel she is more than qualified for the position and will represent the school well in all aspects said addition to how to venture into the world as entrepre neurs and leaders the pro grams focus on learning about each others differ i've already started mak ing connections as far as who i need to speak with and know to get each of my programs done over the summer i want to start put ting things in place so that next year it won't be so much of a hassle said rasheed lewis show the john keepers she made appear ances on the ananda walsh talk show and the today show she was also named in the essence book 50 of the most inspiring magazine essence working women and finders enterprise teenpreneur she has been featured in black enterprise black entertainment business for children rasheed's programs relate close to home because she is also an entrepreneur by the age of 14 rasheed became the ceo and president of sister clowns a clown all of the girls were high ly qualified for the posi tion said rasheed junior graphic communi cations systems major thaddaeus lamb agreed with rasheed it was an extremely tough competition and i am very proud of her win said lamb in preparation for next year rasheed and the new sga executive board are scheduled to meet in the near future to start getting to know each other and plan their schedules rasheed plans to start working rasheed said that the cam paign proved to be an intense battle due to every one's credentials i basically went through the dorms and made sure people could put a face to my name people saw how humble i was and that i was a genuine person and i think that goes a long way she said a&t jocelyn jacobs on court with 2003's miss rasheed said she saw how much of an impact jacobs had on other people's lives it really made me want to be miss a&t said rasheed rasheed's campaign was not full of glitz and irrele vant activities instead she allowed her personality and humbleness carry her to the winners circle inspiration to become miss a&t goes back to rasheed's year as miss freshman while she was when i got to a&t i knew i wanted be a leader but i didn't know what i wanted to do i didn't know if i wanted to be pres ident if i wanted to be miss a&t or what but i did know i wanted to be some thing said rasheed and a member of the ladies of excellence just to name a few since beginning school at a&t rasheed has served as miss freshman sophomore class president secretary of the council of president campus and community involvement did not just begin for rasheed she has been a very active citizen for most of her life it hasn't set in yet but i'm definitely excited said rasheed for rasheed the news of her new title was exception ally good although a close race jun ior business marketing major anisah rasheed took the title of miss north carolina agricultural & technical state university after tallying
